The third generation Renault Clio car debuted in 2005 and already in 2006 became the "Car of the Year" in Europe. The model was replaced on the RENAULT conveyor by the very successful Clio II, which only the success of the Peugeot 206 prevented at one time from becoming the best-selling car in its class. The third generation Renault Clio, in the opinion of its creators, should be sold at least as good as the second, and the management of the Renault-Nissan concern plans to build a Nissan model of the next generation Micra on its chassis.

Like the stylists of Peugeot, their colleagues from Renault, creating the “third” Clio, decided to act on the principle “they don’t look for good”: the Renault Clio III looks like an evolution of the Clio II. There are no supernova design solutions here, but it became clear that the previous ones, laid down in the previous model, received their further development.

Inside, the Renault Clio 3 hatchback sports a Laguna-style front fascia, as well as materials worthy of the models in the class above.

There are three motors to choose from, and all of them are gasoline. Basic at 1.1L develops 75 ~ 78L. with. A step higher is the 1.4-liter 16-valve unit with a capacity of 98 liters. The range is crowned with a 110-horsepower 1.6-liter power unit.
All engines are offered in tandem with a 5-speed "mechanics", but for the 1.1-liter is optionally available "robot" (for the same "5 steps"), and for the 1.6-liter 4-speed "automatic".

The equipment options for the 2007 Renault Clio are "rigidly tied" to the engines. So, the simplest version, Authentique, can only be bought with a 1.1-liter engine ($ 15,749). Those who want an engine of at least 1.4 liters cannot order a basic package for it - only Expression ($ 17,449). Well, the "top" version, Dynamique, comes only with a 1.6-liter engine (from $ 18,649).

In 2009, the third generation Renault Clio underwent an update, as a result of which it acquired a completely new appearance.

In technical terms, there was no choice: there is no alternative 1.6-liter 105-horsepower engine, which works in tandem with the already well-known "mechanics" or "automatic".

There were no special transformations in the interior, and the most noticeable - in the center (the "LED display" of the on-board computer was replaced by the "LCD display with navigation").

The third generation Renault Clio was presented on the Russian market until 2012, after which the fourth generation came to replace, but the “fourth hatchback” did not reach the Russian market.
