The first "release" of the full-size Toyota Tundra pickup made its public debut in 1999, replacing the T100. Initially, the car was designated as T150s, but due to disagreements with Ford due to the similarity of the name with the F-150, the Japanese were forced to rename their model.

In 2003, the "truck" underwent a planned renovation, after which it became prettier externally and internally, and also acquired new engines.

Production of the original Tundra ended in 2006 and was replaced by a second-generation pickup truck.

The "first" Toyota Tundra was available in three versions - Regular Cab (cab with a pair of doors), Access Cab (one-and-a-half cab with two rows of seats) and Double Cab (full cab with four doors).

Depending on the solution, the length of the pickup fits into 5524-5845 mm, width - 1910-2024 mm, height - 1791-1905 mm, wheelbase - 3259-3569 mm.
The ground clearance of the car is an impressive 274 mm, and its curb weight varies from 1785 to 1912 kg.

Specifications. "Tundra" of the first generation was equipped with exclusively atmospheric gasoline engines with distributed fuel supply - V-shaped "six" and "eight" with a volume of 3.4-4.7 liters, producing from 190 to 282 horsepower and from 298 to 440 Nm of torque.

They mated with a 5- or 6-speed "mechanics", or a 4- or 5-band "automatic".

Both a rear-wheel drive transmission and a plug-in all-wheel drive of the Part-time type with three operating modes were installed on the car.

The design of the original generation Toyota Tundra is traditional - a powerful spar frame at the base, on which the body and a steel cargo platform are placed.
The front suspension of the car is an independent torsion bar, suspended on double wishbones, while a rigid axle with small leaf springs on a stretcher is mounted at the rear.
The steering of the full-size truck is complemented by a hydraulic booster, and the braking system is expressed by ventilated discs at the front, drum devices at the rear and ABS.

The positive features of the first generation "Tundra" are its impressive appearance, spacious interior, good cargo capacity, acceptable dynamics, excellent cross-country ability and reliable design.
The car is not without its drawbacks - high fuel consumption, not perfect sound insulation and weak light from the front optics.
