For the first time on display to the public, the "third" Volkswagen Caddy with the prefix "Kasten" in the name (which means "its exclusively truck orientation") was exhibited at the commercial vehicle show held in March 2004.

The van, like the entire family, underwent a planned update in 2010 (the result of which was: a changed exterior, interior and some minor improvements + additional equipment).

The exterior of the VW Caddy Kasten is made "in the corporate style of the German company", and it differs from the exterior design of the "cargo-passenger version" with "dummy plugs" in place of the rear side windows and on the tailgate.

The overall parameters of the body of the van are similar to those of the minivan (except for the ground clearance - in the "utilitarian heel" it is 156 mm in all versions). It is also available in the "standard" version and in the extended "Maxi version".

The interior of the 3rd generation Caddy van with a simple and functional design, ergonomic solutions and a high level of performance is exactly the same as the front part of the interior space of the passenger version. Seats with an optimal profile provide a comfortable fit for the driver and passenger, and a wide range of settings allow you to choose the most suitable position.

The main advantage of VW Caddy Kasten is ample opportunities for cargo transportation. The standard van has 3.2 cubic meters of luggage space, while the Maxi version has a whole cubic meter more.
Depending on the modification, the maximum carrying capacity of the "heel" varies from 545 to 813 kg.

The driver's cabin is separated from the cargo compartment by a solid partition, and access to it is through a sliding side door on the starboard side or a lifting rear cover, which can be replaced with swing doors.

Specifications. The same engines are installed on the Cuddy 3 van as on the compact van, and they are combined exclusively with a five-speed manual gearbox and a front-wheel drive transmission:

  • Two gasoline units (1.2 liters each) produce 86 and 105 horsepower (160 and 175 Nm of thrust, respectively). With the "junior" motor, the "heel" gains the first hundred in 13.7 seconds and a top speed of 155 km / h, and with the "senior" motor - in 11.6-11.9 seconds and 169 km / h. Fuel consumption in mixed mode ranges from 6.8 to 6.9 liters.
  • The diesel 2.0-liter engine generates 110 "horses" of power and 250 Nm of torque, which allows it to accelerate the Caddy Kasten to 100 km / h in 11.8-12.1 seconds and to 170 km / h top speed. Depending on the variant, for every 100 km of track in the combined cycle, the van uses 5.1-5.8 liters of heavy fuel.

For all other technical parameters (namely: the layout of the chassis, braking system and steering), the Volkswagen Caddy Kasten is identical to the utility model.

Prices and equipment. In the Russian market, the third-generation Cuddy van with a standard wheelbase in 2015 is offered at a price of 900,700 rubles, for an extended version of the Maxi you will have to pay from 1,048,100 rubles.

By default, the car is equipped with: one front airbag, ABS, ESP, power steering, standard immobilizer and steel rims.
All other equipment is on a long list of optional equipment.
