The mid-size Fiat Fullback pickup, a "redesigned fifth generation Mitsubishi L200", is the fruit of a partnership agreement between Italian and Japanese manufacturers. The official debut of the "novelty" took place in November 2015 at the Dubai Auto Show, and sales began in the spring of 2016.

Externally, "Fullback" is almost a complete "twin" of the Japanese model "L200", and its rather original design has only a "front" - due to different radiator grilles and bumper relief. However, in the end, the "Italian" looks attractive, stylish and modern.

Fiat "Fullback" is offered in four versions: with a double, extended or single cab and "bare" chassis.

The overall length of the car ranges from 5155 to 5285 mm, but the width, height and length of the wheel base are the same in all cases - 1815 mm, 1780 mm and 3000 mm, respectively.

The actual maximum payload of the pickup truck is 1100 kg. But the most interesting thing about it is the gross weight (according to OOTS) - 2,495 kg (which allows him not to be afraid of fines for violating the "cargo frame" of Moscow) ... but one must bear in mind that this applies only to cars produced since 2018 (previously the gross weight was declared at the level of 2 860 kg).

Inside, Fiat Fullback completely repeats its Japanese "donor", with the exception of logos: nice and modern design (though it directly depends on the configuration), good-quality finishing materials and ergonomic seats with a competent profile and dense filling.

The cargo platform of the Italian "truck" is extended in length by 1520-2265 mm, depending on the modification, its width is 1470 mm, and the depth of the side does not exceed 475 mm. The Fullback's full-size spare wheel hangs from brackets under the floor.

Fullback's power range for the Russian market includes a 2.4-liter (2442 cubic centimeters) four-cylinder diesel engine with direct Common Rail fuel delivery, turbocharging and a 16-valve structure, which is provided in two boost levels.

  • The basic version generates 154 "horses" at 3500 rpm and 380 Nm of torque at 1500-2500 rpm, and works in combination with a 6-speed manual transmission or 5-range automatic transmission.
  • In the "top" version, the motor has in its arsenal 181 horsepower at 3500 rpm and 430 Nm of torque at 2500 rpm, and is mated exclusively with an automatic transmission.

In Russia, two types of drive are allocated for the Italian "truck": hard-launched (Easy Select) or permanent full (Super Select) with a rear differential lock and the ability to turn off the front axle. Depending on the modification, the maximum capabilities of the car do not exceed 169-177 km / h, and the consumption of "diesel fuel" varies from 6.4 to 7.2 liters per mixed "hundred".

Structurally, the Fiat Fullback is a "fifth generation clone of the L200": a ladder-type frame made primarily of high-strength steel grades, an independent double-wishbone front suspension and a continuous rear axle attached to leaf springs.
The steering of the Italian pickup truck is supplemented with a hydraulic booster, and the brake complex is expressed by ventilated discs in the front, drum devices at the rear and ABS, BAS and EBD systems.

On the Russian market, the 2018 Fiat Fullback is offered in seven performance levels - Base, Base +, Active, Active +, Active ++, Dynamic and Dynamic +.

For a pickup in the basic configuration with a manual transmission, you will have to pay a minimum of 1,629,000 rubles, while a modification with an automatic transmission is sold at a price of 1,989,000 rubles.

By default, the "Italian" is equipped with: a pair of airbags, audio preparation with four speakers, 16-inch wheels with steel rims, heated rear window, central locking, ABS, TSA, ESP, Brake Assist, hill start assist technology, power steering, ERA-GLONASS system and some other equipment.
