At the automobile festival of life in Beijing, which received visitors in April 2016, the official premiere of the new mid-size SUV Honda Avancier took place, the prototype of which, called Concept D, was demonstrated in the spring of 2015 at the Shanghai Bridal Show. The car, built specifically for the Chinese market and topping the local Honda SUV lineup, bears the name that the Japanese have found in the turbulent waters of their history, and recalls some of the creations of the luxury brand Acura, both in design and filling.
In the Celestial Empire, the sale of five-door cars started at the end of October 2016, but in the future it is possible that it will appear in other markets.
Undoubtedly, but the Honda Avancier immediately catches the eye - the crossover looks expressive, dynamic and neat, although it is not a "handsome man". The frowning front of the car is rewarded with beautiful headlights pierced with chrome-plated radiator grilles and a colorful bumper, and its lush stern is decorated with intricate lanterns and curly exhaust pipes. The sports theme in the exterior of the "Japanese" is developed by a coupe-like silhouette with a sloping bonnet, a roofline "falling" to the rear and a pronounced relief of the wheel arches accommodating 19-inch "rollers".
From nose to tail, the mid-size SUV measures 4816 mm, its body width and height are 1942 mm and 1669 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is extended by 2820 mm. In "combat" form, the car weighs from 1750 to 1881 kg, depending on the modification.
The interior of the second incarnation of the Honda Avancier resembles premium SUV SUVs, and the finishing materials are very decent (soft plastics, genuine leather, metal decor and wooden inserts, and real ones). In the center of the front panel there is an 8-inch touch screen controlling multimedia functions, and an impeccable climate control panel, and a modern multifunctional steering wheel “hid” exemplary-informative instruments with analog scales, between which a large color display of the trip computer fits.
"Apartments" SUV promise a solid supply of space in both rows of seats.
The front seats have a well-developed side profile and electrically adjustable (optional also heating and ventilation), and the rear sofa offers passengers comfortable seating (although its shape hints that a third one will be superfluous here) and additional benefits of civilization, such as an armrest, cup holders and individual controls "Climate".
With a five-seater layout, the Avanser's trunk volume is quite decent 510 liters. The second row of seats, divided into two unequal parts, is compared to the floor, significantly increasing the vehicle's cargo performance.
Specifications. In the engine compartment of the "second" Honda Avancier there is a 2.0 VTEC petrol engine of the Earth Dreams family, "sporting" an in-line arrangement, a 16-valve DOHC timing belt, direct fuel injection, an electric bypass valve, a low-inertia turbine, variable valve timing at the outlet and intake and oil-cooled pistons.
It generates a maximum of 272 "stallions" and 370 Nm of torque. As standard, the motor is equipped with a 9-band "automatic" with a push-button selector and front-wheel drive, and for an extra charge it is offered an all-wheel drive transmission with a multi-plate clutch that takes traction to the rear axle wheels.
The dynamic characteristics of a mid-size SUV leave positive emotions: its maximum speed is 208 km / h, and the “race” to 100 km / h takes no more than 7.8-8.0 seconds.
In a mixed driving mode, for every "hundred" the car "digests" from 8.1 to 8.7 liters of fuel, depending on the modification.
In 2017, Avancer can also get a hybrid version with a Funtec + Hybrid power plant, combining a 1.5-liter VTEC Earth Dreams engine and a pair of electric motors, and a 2.4-liter atmospheric unit with a capacity of about 200 horsepower, which will be mated with a 6-speed "Mechanics" and a variator.
The "second" Honda Avancier is built on a front-wheel drive "bogie" with a transversely oriented power unit and a monocoque body, which is more than half of high-strength steel grades.
The front wheels of the car are attached to the body using an independent suspension with MacPherson struts, while the rear wheels are suspended on a multi-link system. The SUV has a rack-and-pinion steering complex, in which an electric power steering with variable characteristics is integrated. All wheels of the "Japanese" contain disc mechanisms of the brake center (in the front part they are supplemented with ventilation), which are assisted by ABS, EBD and other electronic "bells and whistles".
Options and prices. In the Chinese market, "Avancer" 2017-2018 model year is offered at a price of 269,800 to 329,800 yuan (~ 2,530-3,093 thousand rubles at the current exchange rate).
The standard functionality of the car includes six airbags, 19-inch rims, a multimedia system with an 8-inch touchscreen, "music" with six speakers, three-zone "climate", ABS, EBD, VAS, BA, electric front seats, external mirrors with heating and electrical settings and much more.
