SEAT Leon Sportstourer is a front- or all-wheel drive five-door "golf" -class station wagon (aka "C-segment" by European standards), combining emotional design, modern and practical interior, as well as productive technical "stuffing" ...

Its main target audience is young, but family people (quite possibly with children), who, buying a car in a cargo-passenger body, do not want to sacrifice either design or driving performance ...

The fourth generation SEAT Leon station wagon first appeared before the general public on January 28, 2020 as part of a special event in Martorell. After the “change of generations”, the car evolved externally and internally, “moved” to a modernized “cart”, slightly increased in size, and “armed” with new power plants (including a hybrid one).

The exterior of the "fourth" SEAT Leon Sportstourer is made in the same vein as the hatchback, and the front and rear parts are almost identical. A utility model can be recognized only in profile, while, in spite of the body type, it looks elegant, fit and harmonious.

The station wagon is 4642 mm long, fits 1800 mm wide, and reaches 1448 mm in height. The distance between the wheelsets of the front and rear axles is 2686 mm for the five-door.

Interior

Inside the fourth-generation SEAT Leon Sportstourer literally repeats the hatchback - a beautiful and modern "digital cockpit", impeccable ergonomics, high-quality workmanship and a five-seater layout, with ample space in front and rear.

One of the features of the station wagon is a high level of practicality: in its normal state, its volume is 617 liters.

But this is not the limit, as the fold-down rear sofa significantly increases the capacity of the load compartment.

Specifications

For the fourth incarnation of the passenger-and-passenger version of the SEAT Leon, the same power plants are offered as for the hatchback of the same name:

  • The petrol range includes three- and four-cylinder TSI turbo engines with a displacement of 1.0-2.0 liters with direct injection, generating 90-190 horsepower and 160-320 Nm of torque.
  • Diesel versions are equipped with a 2.0-liter TDI turbo diesel with common rail injection and a urea neutralization system, which produces 115-150 hp. and 250-360 Nm of peak thrust.
  • Hybrid variant eHybrid with a combined output of 204 hp. combines a 1.4-liter TSI turbo four, an electric motor integrated into a 6-speed robot, and a traction battery with a capacity of 13 kW * h.

Petrol and diesel versions are equipped with a 6-speed "mechanics" or 7-band "robot" DSG with two clutches, supplying all the power to the front wheels.

For some money, 110 and 150 hp units are complemented by a "soft hybrid" system with a 48-volt starter-generator and a small lithium-ion battery, and the most powerful diesel can be equipped with 4Drive all-wheel drive with Haldex multi-plate clutch in the rear wheel drive.

Design features

Structurally, the "fourth" SEAT Leon Sportstourer does not differ from the hatchback - it is based on the modular MQB Evo platform with independent suspensions of both axles (front - MacPherson struts, rear - multi-link), electromechanical power steering and disc brakes on all wheels (on the front - ventilated ). An adaptive DCC chassis with electronically controlled shock absorbers is available as an option for the station wagon.

Options and prices

In Europe, sales of the fourth-generation cargo-passenger "Leon" will begin in the second quarter of 2020 (configurations and prices will become known closer to that moment, but it is obvious that it will cost no less than € 24,000).

In terms of equipment, the Sportstourer versions repeat the hatchback of the same name.
