KIA K5 is a front- or all-wheel drive business class sedan, positioned as a so-called "four-door coupe", which boasts a bold design with striking details, a modern and roomy interior, moderately efficient engines and a wide range of progressive options, and even for "Relatively little money" ...

This "Korean" is addressed, first of all, to a young target audience, for which it is important how the car looks and drives, however, its "potential buyers" are not limited only to these frameworks ...

The official presentation of the KIA K5 of the fifth incarnation (the previous generation of this sedan in Russia is known as Optima) took place on November 21, 2019 at a special event in Seoul, and already on December 12, sales of the three-volume box began in the South Korean market.

After another "reincarnation", the car went through a change in design concept, turning into a "fastback sedan", enlarged in size, surpassing one of the class leaders in the person of Toyota Camry, "moved" to a new platform, for the first time in its history, received an all-wheel drive transmission, " armed "with new engines and acquired a large number of progressive" chips ".

Externally, the "fifth K5" can boast of a bold, elegant, sporty fit and dynamic appearance, which lacks striking design solutions. The front of the four-door flaunts the frowning headlights of a complex shape with zigzags of running lights, as if integrated into the "tiger nose" of the grille with a large-mesh structure, and an aggressive bumper, and its expressive stern is decorated with stylish lamps, united in a continuous line, and a powerful bumper with two trapeziums exhaust pipes.

But the car looks the most advantageous in profile, because it “flaunts” a swift and squat silhouette a la “four-door coupe” with a long hood, sloping roofline, heavily littered rear window and a short “tail” of the trunk, the solidity of which is added by colorful sidewalls and impressive strokes wheel arches.

Dimensions and weight

In terms of its dimensions, the KIA K5 2020 model year belongs to the E-segment by European standards: the sedan reaches 4905 mm in length, of which the center distance extends by 2850 mm, and in width and height it is 1860 mm and 1445 mm, respectively.

The curb weight of the four-door varies from 1410 to 1515 kg, depending on the modification.

Interior

Inside, the fifth generation Optima features an elegant, modern and very solid interior that meets all the trends of the digital era.

At the driver's workplace there is a three-spoke multi-steering wheel with a raised rim, slightly truncated at the bottom, and completely virtual instruments, "drawn" on a 12.3-inch display (although the initial versions have analog dials and a modest 4.2-inch screen).

The sophisticated center console is topped by a 10.25-inch touchscreen, under which asymmetric ventilation deflectors and a laconic "remote control" of the air conditioner with touch control are based. The interior of the car is finished mainly with high-quality finishing materials, and the "top" performances are capable of boasting surfaces with the effect of natural wood or metal.

The salon of the "fifth" KIA K5 has a five-seat layout, and the occupants of both rows of seats can count on a sufficient supply of free space. In the front seats there are ergonomically profiled seats with a distinct side profile and a wide range of adjustments, which in the "top" versions are complemented by an electric drive, heating and ventilation.

On the second row there is a comfortable sofa with a folding center armrest and heating, as well as its own ventilation deflectors.

In the arsenal of the KIA K5 of the fifth incarnation, there is a luggage compartment that is simple in functionality, and even with a narrowed opening, but quite roomy in volume - 510 liters in normal condition.

The second row of seats is folded in several parts, but in this case it is not possible to have a flat floor. In a niche under the raised floor there is a full-fledged "spare wheel" and a set of tools neatly packed into the organizer.
